Media Additions & Fansite Award

I realize that updates are scarce and I do apologize for the billionth time. My school ball is coming up, so finalizing preparations for that has been extremely hectic for me as has school in general. Not only that, but I have no idea as to where my fellow webmistresses' have been hiding, so it's as if I'm working on my own again. But, with a few more weeks left until first term holiday's, I will hopefully get the gallery back into swing with some screencaptures and scans and get back to updating the site more regularly.

I have uploaded a lovely batch of new media to the media archive, consisting of wallpapers, headers and avatars. I still have a lot more to add, but that will all happen in due time when I'm not as busy as I currently am. I'd also like to thank everyone who has donated to the media archive so far. Your donations are very much appreciated. love

Also, with thanks to Laura over at Pure Magic, we are the proud recipients of their Site Of The Month for March of 2008! To view the award and read what was said about the site, click here »

LOCAL ACTORS TO APPEAR IN TELEVISION MOVIE
Monday - February 25, 2008 | by Drew Belle Zerby

Being attacked by dinosaurs or getting strangled by serpents is nothing new for Caleb Michaelson and Shauna Rappold.

Up-and-coming actors Rappold, University alumna, and Michaelson, Baton Rouge resident, will appear next month in the Sci-Fi Channel's original movie "Warbirds," filmed in St. Francisville.

"It is a good sci-fi film," Rappold said. "It is about the banding together of forces. Everybody must work together to survive."

Rappold said she is very anxious for the premiere of "Warbirds" because it is the first sci-fi movie she has acted in.

Michaelson, however, is no stranger to the sci-fi genre. Michaelson's résumé includes several sci-fi flicks where his character is usually brutally killed.

"I love getting killed," Michaelson said. "It's fun, and you get to be creative."

"Warbirds" is about the Women's Airforce Service Pilots who are on a top-secret mission when their plane crash-lands on a tropical island. Pre-historic creatures, the pterydons, ransack the group. The stranded soldiers are then forced to side with the Japanese to fend off the native dinosaurs, Michaelson said.

"The island is filled with eggs that hatch and attack whenever they hear a noise," Rappold said.

Michaelson plays World War II Sergeant John Lee, the war hero, love-interest character.

Rappold portrays Betsy Quigley, one of the WASPS who is unaware of the mission's intent.

Transforming St. Francisville into a tropical island in the South Pacific did not take much work, Rappold said.

"St. Francisville is filled with trees, mud, water and all kinds of bugs," she said. "Being able to film in a place like this made it real for the actors."

Rappold and Michaelson work alongside "Charmed's" Brian Krause, who plays Colonel Jack Toller in the film.

Rappold said it was amazing working with Krause.

"He was always there giving suggestions," she said. "He is very down-to-earth."

Hey everyone!

Wow. The site looks kind of deserted. I apologize for that. I recently come across an article with a small mention of Brian from a couple days ago.

BIG SHOTS: VARTAN ON J-LO AND MALINA IN POKER FUNDRAISER
Tuesday - February 5, 2008 | by Rosario Santiago

While there appears to be hope looming on the horizon for an imminent resolution to the three-month long deadlock between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, there doesn't seem to be any such positive outlook for ABC's Big Shots. The freshman series was canned in December, with three episodes still left for broadcast.

Big Shots co-star, Michael Vartan, who played James Auster on the cancelled program, recently commented on his former big-screen co-star, Jennifer Lopez's pregnancy. Lopez clearly made a good and lasting impression on the actor, with whom she shared the spotlight in the film, Monster-in-Law.

"I think she'll be a wonderful mom," Vartan was quoted by the New York Post. "I think Latin women have the key...very emotional, very nurturing. You always hear about big Latin families and how lose-knit they are."

In other news, Vartan's fellow Big Shots cast member, Joshua Malina, will be among the special guests at a Gala Celebrity Poker fundraising event on Sunday, February 10. The event, which is scheduled to take place at Hollywood Park Casino on W. Century Boulevard in Inglewood, California, is for the benefit of the families of California firefighters who were injured or killed in the line of duty while battling the wildfires that ravaged the Southern California area last year.

Hosted by the California State Firefighters Association or CSFA, the celebrity poker fundraiser gets underway at 2pm with a celebrity cocktail reception that includes both a silent as well as a live auction. This will be followed by a brief ceremony to honor firefighters injured in the Southern California blaze. The No-Limit Texas Hold'-em Tournament is then set to commence at 3pm. This tournament is limited to 250 players and the buy-in is set at $450.

Some of the other television personalities expected to join Big Shots' Malina are Brian Krause from Charmed and Joseph Mascolo of The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of our Lives.
